Big big announcement. MUST READ.

Dear readers of Girl with a Mug,

I'd like to let you know that I've moved my domain to my Tumblr and well, essentially I am a Tumblr user. So if you're reading this, you're on the wrong blog. Go to girlwithamug.com as usual as follow me there. There won't be any continuation to this platform as far as I know.

I went back to my high school

On the 20th, when I had only one period of school, I went back to my high school, saw some of my teachers and had a lunch in the school cafeteria. Going back there was so great, peaceful and I could forget that now you're in college worrying about your career or whatever.

I miss my school.

Spending some time in the female teachers’ room.

I don’t own this video.

Vincent is the very first stop animation written and directed by Tim Burton while he was working for Disney. The film was inspired by Vincent Pierce, who actually narrated the short animation.

This is an original Tim Burton film with his light hearted romantic films including a lovely gothic style of him. Spending 6 minutes on this short animation would not go to waste. I promise.

I got a question

Video was filmed by my little sister with a tripod.

Dear avid readers of Girl with a Mug,

As mentioned in the video, I had this idea that I could do Alex Day’s Alex Reads Twilight’s Mongolian version just now.

So let me know if you want to see a series of videos of Anu Reads Twilight in Mongolian with her sister in the comment section down below.

Don’t think that I’ve put much thought into it, so don’t think that I will be discouraged if the readers vote against the notion.

We had some fun filming this one. Talking about doing it for a long time.

Song of the Day: Amber Riley – Spotlight

I don’t own this video.

I’ve been listening to this clip on and off since it was released on GleeOnFox YouTube channel as part of an early teaser for the 3rd episode of Season 3, Asian F.

You got to admit this song was a great performance and reflects a lot of emotional background in anyone.

Face Book

20111007_195I’ve just created a new photo album on my Facebook profile, which I barely do. This album will be literally a book of faces.

Don’t get surprised if you notice me taking your photo for no reason and finding it either tagged or untagged on this album. It will be included in my personal photo collection of faces.

You can see the album, if we are friends on Facebook.

Find the album here.

A Minute with the Pigeons beside the Gandan Temple

Anu Harchu: Creative Commons ©

Dear Readers,

Today was a day of free wandering, pure wandering. I’ve just walked around as if there was nothing more important in this world even it was cold.

Call me a time-wasting fool, but I actually enjoyed it and had a lot of time reflecting on the things I usually don’t consider, which I am not ready to reveal on my blog yet.

P.S. The afternoon and the evening was marvelous thanks to Nomuna, Sodoo and Jack Jack.

Cowboys & Aliens

cowboys-and-aliens-new-posterLast night, I watched Cowboys & Aliens starring Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford and Olivia Wilde released in 2011.

The film follows a group of cowboys mining gold in the wild west who encounter mischievous creatures that they first considered to be demons even if for a joke.

Jake (Daniel Craig) wakes up in the deserted land with a weird wrist bracelet like device whose purpose he doesn’t know and seems to not remember how he got it on him in the first place. He gets to the nearest town depending on the gold resources and strange things start to happen from the first night.

Unknown creatures attack the village with unknown flying mechanism and light weapon. Now they have to find why they are here, what they want and most importantly how to make them go away.

The overall storyline was pretty easy to predict, though the performance of the actors were marvelous despite the western and science-fiction angle sucked a little bit. Maybe not little bit, big.

I wouldn’t vouch for the film’s greatness. But if you’d like to see a bunch of cool actors (and actresses) in a single film, definitely go and watch it.

Where is Anu’s mom?

My uncles (I don’t have blood related aunts) have always told me that I was kinda slow, and I always referred to myself in third person. Guess it was since childhood. Whenever I am looking for my mother I would call “Where is Anu’s mom?” with a lazy move of my neck.

Yeah, I know I look soooo spoiled in this picture of mine when I was about 3 or 4 years old. It’s because I was a spoiled kid, maybe still I am.

Raise your hands all those mama’s little girls! You won’t be that way forever. Love your moms while you can.

I love you mom…

Be Happy…

20111010_260To whom I want to be…

I hope you have achieved what is needed and as well as what you wanted in life by now, whenever that is. But most of all, I hope you are happy, not comparatively happy, but insanely happy without going insane. Don’t forget that goal in life isn’t only success, but there should be satisfaction as well.

Be and live your life at its fullest.

Thoughts on the First Meeting of SMCU

Okay, this time I DO own this video.

I am sorry if the words are harsh. But the Social Media Club: Ulaanbaatar’s First Meeting was nothing I’d expected it to be. What I had in my mind was that it would be all those free minded young people with fresh ideas and no hard feelings. But what it was that bunch of angry and stressed guys with ties searching for a way to release that bad energy with anti-feminist tendency.

I totally understand it wasn’t how the organizers wanted it to be and it was just a few of the guests. But it doesn’t change the fact that it bored and annoyed me resulting in leaving early.

Better luck in the next meeting.

Song of the Day: Charlie McDonnell – This is Me

I don’t own this video or the song.
I have no doubt that any avid YouTuber would already know Charlie McDonnell a.k.a. CoolLike (it’s also his twitter username) by now. He has released his solo album “This is Me” about 10 months ago, I think; and I had the digital version of this album for ages.

Today my music player shuffled to one of his song in the album which I forgot all the lyrics and the tunes to almost every song, and I loooooved it. I had to track down the exact one later and here it is. Enjoy!

George W. Bush: Address to Congress Following the Attacks of 9/11

I don’t own this video.

In my university, I take this class called “Орчуулгын дадал” – Interpretation Skills. For the assignment of this class we get to translate the significant and influential speeches in the history of time (well, the history of America). As the first assignment we got to translate ex-president George Bush’s speech to the Congress on September 20th, 2001 following the attack of September 11th.

Here is the my translation of the speech from English to Mongolian. Please use it to your need and make sure you cite my name and site if you use it for public display.

imagingSo, every year there is this fundraising 24-hour vlog featuring different public figures, mostly YouTubers, for UNICEF, I think, called StickAid hosted by Myles Dyer. This year it’s going to be happening between Oct. 1st 12:00 PM and Oct. 2nd 12:00 PM GMT. (Oct. 8:00 PM and Oct. 2nd 8:00 PM in Ulaanbaatar)

I don’t yet know about the co-hosts today but I know that Fleur de Force and Charlie McDonnell will be there during the 24 hours. What you can do is that you can watch the vlog and let the others know about it, and if you want to, you can donate as well. Go to www.stickam.com/blade376

Hannibal Rising

HB_070104030236667_wideweb__300x446Author: Thomas Harris
Title: Hannibal Rising
Series: Hannibal Lecter (Book #4)

Goodreads page

My ratings: 3 stars out of 5.
My reading duration: September 22nd – 23rd, 2011.

Hannibal Rising is literally the Rising of Hannibal Lecter both physically and mentally.

The story jumps between different stages of his life from 6 to 20 something covering the time he lived with his parents during the war and his childhood after the war as well. The big twist, if you haven’t already watched the movie, will be uncovered towards the end of the book, which was a traumatic event on young Hannibal and he either intentionally or unintentionally closed out of his mind until older age.

The insertion of Lady Murasaki was really intriguing and to tell you the truth, she was the reason I kept reading this one.

Not recommended for those who haven’t read the prequels in the series. If so, highly recommended.

Bloggity: September 22nd, 2011

shot_1315484852753You know what occurred in my mind right at this second? How insignificant I am. It is not one of the you-are-just-one-of-the-all-6-billion-people-on-Earth thing. Concerning that, I already knew about my insignificance. I am insignificant among the all talented Mongolian youths. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t talk how great we are kinda thing all the time. I am pretty skeptical. But right now I feel how great these young people are as I am listening to a gorgeous true Mongolian girl signing the traditional long song – Uyahan Zambuu Tiviin Naran – amazingly. Oh my, people! I appreciate you, I worship you, I’ll be glad to be the insignificant backbone of you.

Trylle: (Book 3) AscendTrylle: (Book 3) AscendAuthor: Amanda Hocking
Title: Ascend
Series: Trylle Trilogy (Book #3)

Goodreads page

My rating: 3 stars out of 5.
My reading duration: Sep. 15th – 20th, 2011.

Wendy is a Princess, but she’s almost running the kingdom instead of her mother, the Queen, because she is in her sickbed, and more to that she married her friend out of goodwill, not love.

The wrapping up the Trylle trilogy, Ascend, was a fast paced first person narration. Compared to the previous books in the trilogy, Ascend was written in a more adventurous way and the storyline provided more.

In my opinion, Ascend was a perfect ending to the trilogy and I would recommend it to anyone who has the time, because they are pretty cheap. Lol.

Bloggity: Sep. 20th, 2011

The whole enormity of my situation just hit me. Here are the current status of my situation in no particular order:

  1. I am one of the oldest students at the university at the moment, because I am a junior and all the seniors are away on their internship programs.
  2. My best friend is leaving to Japan tomorrow evening and I didn’t have a chance to meet with her and some other friends yesterday evening, because it was TOO late for me to be out in my mother’s recent perspective about mine life outside home and school – which is actually none to nil. And me being “grounded” is making my c-r-a-z-y.
  3. The overload of the school in the junior is getting BIG. I can just float around, but how can I do that despite my nature – struggling to be a good student.
  4. Having no one to really confide in and trust in is kinda “bursting” and end up making me confide in wrong people, I guess. Which in the end, I will lose my “own”.
  5. The feeling of purposelessness in taking over and starting to conflict with everything that is already there.

1+2+3+4+5, it was a whole rambling of shit.

Thank you for your time and I am sorry that I inevitably wasted your time.

Succubus Revealed

Georgina Kincaid: (Book 6) Succubus Revealed [Germany]Author: Richelle Mead
Title: Succubus Revealed
Series: Georgina Kincaid (Book #6)

Goodreads page

My rating: 5 stars out of 5.
My reading period: Sep. 18th – 19th, 2011.

As the last installment of the Georgina Kincaid, the author has to end the whole sequence rather than by her style – create a new mystery. And I will most definitely say that this was the PERFECT ending to Georgina’s story.

The author picked up the whole series knot, concerning Georgy’s contract, from the previous books. Although you know everything will be eventually okay, the storyline still keep you worrying.

Highly recommended for upper age, preferably adult, fantasy readers.

Oxygen, Nisvanis fan club: 6th anniversary

First of all, I’d like to congratulate all the 150 members of the club, which I am not included at the moment, and above all – the ones who stuck to it from the beginning. I wish all of you the best and the better.
An amazing psychedelic rock band – Joker Wild – opened the concert with a couple of nicely rearranged Nisvanis songs and others. Loved them much.IMG_4692

A Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song

A Cinderella Story Once Upon a Song (2011)My ratings: 4 stars out of 5.

Just as the title suggests, this is another Cinderella story from Disney and I assure you that it is better than the Selena Gomez one. (They should have made her sing instead of dancing.)

Don’t expect anything that has a much depth into it, it is a very naïve but well put comedy film teen film that is a little unreal yet inspiring. If you have a 90 minutes to spare for a light romance, I really suggest you to watch it.

Here is the song that is written during the movie and I loved it even though it is from that pink, fluffy land:

Don’t break my heart
Before I give it to you
Don’t tell me no
Before I ask you to

Don’t say it doesn’t fit
Before you try it on
There is too much to lose to be wrong

And it feels like there’s something here
But I wanna see it before it disappears
And if there’s something real between me and you
Well, all we both open to

P.S. I liked the song that Freddie Stroma sang on an acoustic guitar at about half of the film. Let me know if you know the song and where I can download it or something.

Book cover - The Great GatsbyAuthor: F. Scott Fitzgerald
Title: The Great Gatsby

Goodreads page

My ratings: 3 stars out of 5.
My reading period: Sep. 15th – 16th, 2011.

The Great Gatsby is one of the most vivid works in English literature, or rather American literature. Anyway, I wanted to read this as soon as possible, although it was already in my to-read-list, when John Green mentioned the Valley-of-Ashes from this book on one of his recent vlogbrothers video.

The book was all I was expecting and didn’t really think I would love it so bad. Anyway, it was a nice, short read and doesn’t make you confused or worked up for anything. Recommended for a free day.

Leviathan, or The Matter, Forme and Power of Common Wealth Ecclesiasticall and Civil

Leviathan [front]Author: Thomas Hobbes
Title: Leviathan, or the Matter, Forme and Power of Common Wealth Ecclesiasticall and Civil

Goodreads page

My ratings: 5 stars out of 5.
My reading duration: Sep. 9th – Sep. 14th, 2011.

I had been appointed to do a presentation on Thomas Hobbes, and the funny thing is that I had to read this freaking over 700-page book in less than a week. But still I ended up really enjoying it; plus the presentation went well, I think…

The whole work consists of 4 books on different matters:

  • Book One: Of Men
  • Book Two: Of Commonwealth
  • Book Three: Of Christian Commonwealth
  • Book Four: Of the Kingdom of Darkness

All the books were really interestingly detailed , all the chapters are concentrated on a single matter, and anyone would be thrilled to illustrate on your Philosophy class or Politics class by Thomas Hobbes, who was living during the 30-year-war between 1618 and 1648, and he had a first hand experience.

Recommended for anyone over … well anyone who is or will be in college soon.

P.S. As usual, the audiobook link can be found in the Download section from my Mediafire account.

n5250Author: Thomas Harris
Title: Hannibal
Series: Hannibal Lecter (Book #3)

Goodreads page

My ratings: 3 stars out of 5.
My reading duration: Aug. 29 – Sep. 8th, 2011

Dr. Lecter escaped and it has been 7 years since then. C. Darling is still in trouble with her higher up(s). Now that he is out of the protective walls of the confinement center, the old enemy is hunting him to drive him into this gruesome end. On the other hand, Darling is … well she’s not doing good.

Overall, I kinda liked this book, but the whole this wasn’t that gory as I’ve imagined it to be and not really recommending this one to anyone. And the ending was kinda messed up one.
