Journal Entry 20130130

When I first signed up to Blogspot back in 2009, the blogsphere was already big with big time bloggers and it seemed like the posts and entries to those blogs were intimidatingly huge. I mean checking out people's blogs - I didn't really know about foreign community, but the Mongolian bloggers were all about philosophy, criticism, journalism and other big topics. And you gotta see how long and full of content these entries are - each, which obviously intimidated me. Still do. Because I am not a long writer - by which I mean I literally cannot write long passages. I find it to time consuming and "topic-circling" to go on and on about one subject before finally getting to the point. (No offense) If my professors and teachers give me an assignment of essay with like 5-6 pages or something, I would literally and figuratively panic, full on.

At this point of this post, I find continuing on with this subject relatively hard compared to when I first started typing. So why not end it like a half drunk rambling that Mark Zuckerberg makes in the beginning of The Social Network?

P.S. It's Day 2 of me getting sick 3rd time this winter. Hate getting sick!!!

Life of Pi | Anu Watches

I remember wanting to watch this one so bad when Life of Pi was first released, but eventually it faded. But somehow it seems like which story of the two is real is causing a lot of controversy among fellow film watchers, which of course sparked my interest back again.

With the ability of switched sleep - I get to watch a full movie for its last showing at 11 pm to 1 am and not fall  asleep halfway through the film. So here is my thoughts.

Sugababes - Too Lost in You | Song of the Day

Some girls talk can help you remember a good song that you haven't heard in a long time. Remember that girl band with three girls from different ethnicity and they looked kinda and sorta so exotic? I mean, Sugababes - they really were cool pop band, weren't they?

Can't pinpoint it fully, but do you remember which movie this song was used it? Feels something like Love Actually or other same sorts (I mean recent British flicks).

P.S. Vevo has cut the ending of the video, so I suggest you to go for the Soundcloud.

20130120 The Fountain of Bakhchisarai | Anu Vlogs

For a girls' night out, Nomin, Indra and I went for a ballet, The Fountain of Bakhchisarai, at the State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet. Quite different than normal night outs, huh? Well, I'll say it was great! I loved the ballet. But before the showing running into people at coffee shops is delightful, isn't it?

20130114 Cafe 9 + White Colour | Anu Vlogs

Must say, I am really enjoying this short videos in which I myself don't really appear but still documenting what is going on. Also not talking and inserting music in the background is strangely enjoyable.

Jan 14, 2013 was 1) First Anniversary of Cafe 9, during which they offered 50% off of their drinks and other surprises (I didn't win) and 2) Opening of artist Ts. Odgerel's exhibition - White Colour.

20130111 Swan Lake | Anu Vlogs

The Winter Star 2013 featured Altankhuyag D (Boston Ballet Second Soloist), Ashley Ellis (Boston Ballet Soloist) and Avetik Karapetyan (Boston Ballet Soloist) in a production of Swan Lake on the stage of Mongolian Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet. Post on the performance on State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet website.

Luckily, I had the prime seat! Row 1, Seat 1 in the parterre, which is right behind the orchestra. I didn't have my camera on me, so great shots! But here are some that were taken from the balcony.

P.S. Thank you Tegshee for getting me this seat!!!

Anna Karenina | Anu Watches

I loved Anna Karenina with Sophie Marceau as Anna and Sean Bean as Vronsky, but I also love this version of novel adaptation because of the making style is just great and visually so beautiful.

Keira Knightley as Anna Karenina, Aaron Johnson as Vronsky, Matthew Macfadyen as Oblonsky and Jude Law as Aleksey Karenin - cool compilation, don't you think so?

Seven Psychopaths | Anu Watches

Since I watched Tom Chantalbash's review on screening of Seven Psychopaths back in - I don't even remember when, I wanted to watch it so much. Gladly, I spotted it on Cititube the other day and really enjoyed watching it.

20130109 The Evening | Anu Vlogs

I have realized that I don't remember what I did on this day 2 years ago - strange, huh? So, documenting this day even in a very small snippets would serve the memory in a strange way also. Lol.

Thank you for spending the evening with me Enkhjin, Nomin and Indra!

P.S. Word of the day: Go home, ... , you're drunk!

20130108 Farewell Gathering | Anu Vlogs

Mindy invited Nikki, Uugii and me for dinner before having to leave country tomorrow for her second semester of the year. So, it's huushuur time!!! Apparently her mom always cooks those on every last evening of her break from school.

Well, it was more of a girls-time. Here is a little snippets of the evening. Expand the post for the photos.

2013 Reading Challenge

Hello reading faces,

You might already be acquainted with the online book organizer Goodreads, so I won't be talking about it all that much. And for the last 2 years - 2011 and 2012 - Goodreads had been allowing its users the yearly reading challenge. You can set however many books you are planning to read in the coming year - thin or think, it doesn't really matter.

For me I challenged myself to read 60 books in 2011 and accomplished it by finishing 78 books, and 40 books in 2012 and accomplished by going through 45 of them. This year for the 2013 Reading Challenge, I challenged myself to read another 40 books - quantity wise, but quality wise I am planning to read more non-fiction text-books rather than my normal YA fiction stuffs. So wish me a good luck.

If you are already a Goodreads member, please challenge yourself this year if you haven't already. And if you're not a member already, I won't push you to become one, but it really helps you to be pretty anal about your reading as well.

P.S. They have a widget for your challenge to place it on your blog.

20130106 Coffee Lovers | Anu Vlogs

Every now and then people of same interest who aren't able to see each other set up a time and place to meet up and do something. Today I met up with some coffee lovers, some of whom I knew and some of whom I made new connections.

There is a Coffee Lovers group on Facebook (Mongolian), if you want to check it out.

Regina Spektor - Hotel Song | Song of the Day

Here is a small quirk  for the romantic and bubbly side of everyone, including me, from our lovely and quirky Regina Spektor. The lyrics are somewhat a little overboard to directly apply for me, but the whole idea is very flirty, don't you think?

2013 Resolutions

Planner is essential in what you can get done.
Paperblanks' week-by-week,
Mini-size, day planner in French Ornate Fuchsia
Okay, everyone. It's time for the post with all the things you list whatever you want to or have to do and you promise yourself that you will, but you almost never end up achieving. I won't promise anything neither to anyone nor myself though accomplishing them would be nice.

1. Graduate successfully from college - preferably not writing a thesis or giving a general examination other that final exams of the courses I am taking (hurry up, SFS. Join the NUM system)

2. Figure out what I want to do with my life, at least for the next 2 years (what a goal)

3. Apply for grad school (overseas - United Kingdom, United States, Republic of France and Canada are more preferable)

4. Get a very cool job if the grad school thingy won't turn up as soon as I am expecting. But not THAT cool that I would feel heartbroken when I leave or unable to do so for my next step in career or basically life.

5. Read at least 40 books (there goes my Goodreads 2013 challenge) - preferrably more educational or far from what I read when I started (YA). More Haruki Murakami ...

6. Watch more movies - more artistic ones that I won't probably understand. More Wong Kar Wai ...

7. Write a book, probably a novella, nothing so thick (literally and figuratively) - Indra has agreed to cooperate.

8. Do better videos with better content. Better videos in terms of editing and shooting footage, and better content in terms of substance, preparation and guests, also events.

9. Register for a gym and stick to it. (exercise more even if I have to force myself, LOL) Yoga sounds nice ... Nah, I am too impulsive for yoga. My mom would love it though.

10. Just be a better person, probably in a more awkward way. (Probably not possible, it's a downfall since birth and the major doesn't help it.)

I thought it was better not to involve anyone else in this resolution, but I ended up with a very "self-centered" list. Well, you know what? I don't care. I wish you a good luck in completing your resolutions, unlike me (I hope not).

Happy New Year!
